CM Patnaik Launched Third Phase of Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana and BSKY Nabin Card

Third Phase of Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana: Last Friday, CM Naveen Patnaik launched the third phase of Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana which is going to cover 90% of the population in Odisha. Now every people or families in rural Odisha will become beneficiaries under BSKY 3rd Phase from 29th December, 2023.

What is Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana? 

The Odisha State Government launched this scheme 5 years ago to provide cashless health facilities to the citizens of Odisha. During the first phase all the medical facilities in the public sector are free for all citizens, irrespective of income and residence proof. While in the second phase BSKY provided cashless health facilities in the private sector hospitals to all ration card holders. 


Coverage of BSKY 3rd phase 

CM Patnaik at the time of launching said that now in the third phase of BSKY all the families who lives in rural Odisha will be eligible for cashless treatment up to Rs 5 lakh per annum while women members of the family are able to take cashless health facilities up to Rs 10 Lakh for critical ailments. In the 3rd phase of Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana now all government employees and taxpayers are also eligible. 

While covering the third phase now this scheme will cover 1.10 crore families. It's like 90% of the population of Odisha among 4.79 population. Now all the people who are eligible for this scheme will get a new BSKY Nabin Card to avail cashless health facilities in public and private hospitals. 


BSKY Nabin Card Launched

Now in the third phase of Odisha’s flagship health scheme, everyone will be able to issue a new BSKY Nabin Card for cashless treatment in all private and public hospitals inside or outside of Odisha. This scheme now covers 90% of the total population of the State. 


BSKY History (Data Analysis) 

As per the media reports, 45 lakhs people receive free health care at public sector hospitals while 1.3 lakh persons receive cashless treatment in a month. It will cost nearly 260 crores to the state government. So far, more than 21 lakh people received cashless treatment under the Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana in Odisha; it would cost nearly about 4500 crore rupees of the state government.
